Well it seems like we are well into the New Year and boy, has it been busy!! A couple of weeks ago all 3 kids had events going on the same day. We really enjoy days like this. But in the end, it all worked out and everyone survived.
Alex attended the last of two sessions at Merit Badge University. He was able to complete requirements for his Citizenship in the Nation and Truck Transportation merit badges. He is now one of three Patrol Leaders for his Troop. He is enjoying it for the most part.
Sophia is doing well in swimming and improving in her times. Recently her swim team competed against another team that was more than 3 times the size of hers. Overall, the Newport News team still did pretty well.
Here she is getting ready for backstroke.
Matthew's pinewood derby car (based on our dog, Rita) won second place for design. He helped Ted with the sanding and the painting. He is looking forward to receiving his Wolf rank badge later this month.
On another note, I had a wonderful time this weekend (1 1/2 days) being by myself. Did you know that silence is deafening? Anyway, I was able to get a lot of stuff done (both housework and misc. computer work).
Ted took all 3 kids on a ski trip with Alex's Boy Scout Troop. They left early Saturday morning and drove to Wintergreen Ski Resort. The troop rented a big clubhouse for everyone to stay in. They were on the slopes the whole day (8 hrs. minus breaks here and there). This was Matthew's first time ever on the slopes and he did really well. He opted to take snowboarding lessons instead of skiing. And as you can see from this video that Ted took, he did quite well!!

They all had an awesome time!!!

Hey Trish,
You and your family always amaze me with everything the kids are involved in. That's wonderful about the accomplishments all the kids achieved. And to have a weekend to yourself. You go girl! Tami
As always, so nice to see/read the update - such a nice way to stay in touch w/ everyone. Very thoughtful.
