We officially have a teenager in the Van Horn house. Alex turned 13 over the weekend. He and Ted spent the weekend with their Boy Scout Troop at Fort Story, located in Virginia Beach. Alex couldn't wait to go on this campout. He was looking forward to his board of review. It was a great present for him to earn the Star rank. He has really worked hard these past few months....completing all the requirements. Way to go! We are so proud of him!!!


His Troop made a dutch oven apple pie for him for his birthday. According to Ted...it was delicious!


As a family, we celebrated Alex's birthday by taking him to Kings Dominion, an amusement park located north of Richmond. This was over Labor Day weekend. The weather was perfect and the kids enjoyed riding the roller coasters and other rides. The kids had never been to Kings Dominion before, because Busch Gardens is less than an hour away. Everyone had a great time.
